About Us
My name is Cender Gansukh, and I am a Mongolian-American senior. Growing up in a Mongolian-American household, I found myself attached to my Western identity, unaware of the transformative experience awaiting me during my next trip to Mongolia. Playing with the neighborhood kids, living without running water or electricity, or simply witnessing my grandparent’s daily struggles allowed me to recognize the stark realities that shaped their lives. That summer unlocked a profound passion within me, influencing not only my actions but a key part of my identity ever since. After seeing firsthand the disparities faced by Mongolian youth, I immediately brainstormed ways to help the children who, despite our age similarity, grew up in a contrastingly different environment. What began as sending small packages of clothing and books to family and friends has evolved into my passion for advocacy. Over time, my modest efforts have grown into MongolYou, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting disadvantaged Mongolian youth, preserving cultural heritage, and connecting foreign-born Mongolians to their roots. I plan to continue my efforts well into my adulthood and utilize this nonprofit to create lasting, long-term change.
